Ingredients:
1. 4 pcs of fish(rohu/katla)
2. 3 tbsp of oil
3. 1/2 tsp of sumin seed
4. 1/2 tsp mustard seed
5. 2 big cloves of garlic
6. 1 dry red chilli
7. 1/2 of medium sized tomato
7. 1/2 tsp turmaric powder
8. Salt to taste
Instructions:
1. Marinate the fish with salt and a pinch of turmaric. Keep is aside for 15 minutes
2. Meanwhile, make a paste of red chilli, cumin, mustard, garlic and tomato. The mixture should be neither too fine nor very caorse. You should feel the flakes of mustard
3. Heat up the oil and fry the fish. They don't need to be crispy. Remove them from oil
4. In the remanining oil, add the paste we prepared. Saute it until the oil strts to release
5. Add 1.5 cups of water and let it come to boil
6. Add the fried fish and let it simmer for 4-5 minutes
7. The jhal is ready to be served with steamed rice
